Becontree Flooring Terms & Condtions

BECONTREE FLOORING

Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Becontree Flooring. These Terms & Conditions apply to flooring products and installation services supplied by Becontree Flooring.

By accepting a quotation, placing an order, paying a deposit or instructing Becontree Flooring to proceed, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Quotations

All quotations are based on the measurements, information and requirements available to us at the time of quotation.

Unless otherwise stated, quotations are valid for 30 days.

A quotation becomes an order once it has been accepted and any required deposit or payment has been received.

Where additional work or materials become necessary because of site conditions that could not reasonably have been identified when the quotation was prepared, additional charges may apply. Where reasonably possible, these will be discussed with you before the additional work is carried out.

2. Prices

The price shown on your quotation covers the products and services specifically listed.

Additional materials, preparation, labour or services not included in the quotation may incur additional charges.

3. Orders, Cancellation and Returns

Once you have accepted an order, Becontree Flooring may place the order with our flooring supplier specifically for you.

Please check your flooring choice, colour, measurements and requirements carefully before accepting your quotation.

Once products have been ordered from our supplier, cancellation may result in charges.

Our suppliers may charge Becontree Flooring for returning, collecting, cancelling or restocking products. Where permitted by law, these reasonable costs may be passed on to the customer.

Some products cannot reasonably be returned once ordered, cut, opened or prepared specifically for a customer.

This can include:

  • Carpet cut to the customer's required measurements;
  • Adhesives and certain consumable products;
  • Special-order flooring;
  • Bespoke or made-to-measure products;
  • Flooring that has been cut or prepared specifically for the customer;
  • Products that the supplier will not accept back into stock.

Cut carpet cannot normally be returned to the supplier because it has been cut specifically to the customer's requirements.

Adhesives and other consumable products may not be returnable once ordered, supplied or opened.

Where a product is non-returnable, any refund will be subject to applicable law and the customer's statutory rights.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes any statutory cancellation, refund, repair, replacement or other legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

4. Samples and Colour

Samples are provided to assist customers in choosing their flooring.

Slight differences may occur between samples and the finished product due to manufacturing batches, lighting, natural variation and other factors.

Images displayed on websites, phones, tablets and computers may not exactly represent the finished product.

5. Special-Order Products

Some flooring products are ordered specifically for an individual customer and may be subject to supplier restrictions.

This can include special-order, bespoke, made-to-measure or non-stock products.

Where applicable, customers will be informed before ordering.

6. Deposits and Payment

A deposit may be required before flooring is ordered or installation is booked.

The required deposit will be stated on the quotation.

The remaining balance is payable in accordance with the payment terms shown on the quotation or invoice.

Unless otherwise agreed, payment for fitting is due upon completion of the agreed work.

7. Consumer Cancellation Rights

Certain consumer contracts may have statutory cancellation rights, particularly contracts entered into at a customer's home or through distance communication.

Where applicable, the statutory cancellation period may be 14 days.

However, cancellation rights can vary depending on the circumstances and the type of goods or services supplied.

Where the law allows an exemption or limitation to cancellation rights, this will apply only where the relevant legal requirements have been met.

Customers may request that installation services begin during a cancellation period. Where permitted by law, charges may apply for services already supplied.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.

8. Site Preparation

Customers must ensure that the property is reasonably accessible and suitable for the agreed work.

Furniture and personal belongings should normally be removed from the working area unless furniture removal has been included in the quotation.

Customers must inform Becontree Flooring of any known:

  • Damp or moisture problems;
  • Underfloor heating;
  • Asbestos;
  • Structural problems;
  • Damaged subfloors;
  • Previous flooding;
  • Hidden pipes or cables;
  • Other conditions that could affect installation.

We may postpone work where the site is unsafe or unsuitable.

9. Subfloor Preparation

Flooring must be installed onto a suitable subfloor.

Additional preparation may be required, including plywood, hardboard, smoothing compound, levelling, screeding, repairs or other preparation.

Where additional work is required, additional charges may apply.

Hidden defects discovered after existing flooring has been removed may require additional work.

10. Existing Flooring

Existing flooring will only be removed where this has been included in the quotation or subsequently agreed.

Removing existing flooring may reveal defects that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand.

Where hazardous materials are suspected, work may be stopped until the area is made safe.

11. Carpet Fitting

Carpet will be installed using appropriate professional fitting methods.

Seams or joins may remain visible to some degree depending on the carpet, colour, pattern, lighting and room conditions.

Patterned carpets may require additional material for pattern matching.

12. Underlay and Gripper

Existing underlay and gripper may only be reused where they are suitable and in an appropriate condition.

Damaged, unsuitable or worn underlay or gripper may need to be replaced.

13. Laminate, LVT and Hard Flooring

Hard flooring requires a suitable, stable, dry and sufficiently level subfloor.

Installation will be carried out in accordance with appropriate fitting practices and manufacturer's requirements.

Expansion gaps and acclimatisation requirements will be followed where applicable.

14. Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl flooring requires an appropriately prepared subfloor.

Existing imperfections may show through the finished flooring if adequate preparation has not been undertaken.

Additional preparation may therefore be required.

15. Stairs and Landings

Stairs and landings may require additional materials and labour.

Any applicable additional charges will be shown on the quotation.

Unusual staircases, winders, turns and other features may affect installation requirements.

16. Installation Dates

We will make reasonable efforts to attend on the agreed installation date.

Installation dates may need to change because of circumstances outside our reasonable control, including supplier delays, product shortages, severe weather, illness, vehicle problems, accidents or unsafe site conditions.

Where this occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to arrange an alternative date.

17. Customer Responsibilities

Customers must provide reasonable access to the property.

Children and pets should be kept away from the working area.

Customers must advise us of any access, parking or site restrictions before installation.

18. Furniture

Furniture removal and replacement is only included where specifically stated on the quotation.

We may decline to move unusually heavy, fragile or unsafe items.

Customers should remove valuable or fragile belongings before installation.

19. Complaints and Defects

If you believe there is a problem with the product or installation, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

We will investigate complaints fairly and reasonably.

Where we are legally responsible for defective workmanship, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.

Customers should give Becontree Flooring a reasonable opportunity to inspect and address an issue before arranging third-party repairs, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary.

20. Manufacturer Warranties

Where a manufacturer warranty applies, its terms will also apply.

Manufacturer warranties do not replace the customer's statutory rights.

21. Care and Maintenance

Customers should follow the manufacturer's cleaning and maintenance instructions.

Damage caused by misuse, neglect, unsuitable cleaning products, excessive moisture or failure to follow reasonable maintenance instructions may not be covered.

22. Commercial and Contract Customers

Additional terms may apply to commercial customers, landlords, letting agents and contract flooring projects.

Where a separate written agreement has been made, that agreement will take priority where it expressly conflicts with these Terms & Conditions.

23. Data Protection

Customer information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and Becontree Flooring's Privacy Policy.

Customer information will not be sold to third parties.

24. Photography

We may take photographs of completed flooring installations for quality records and portfolio purposes.

We will take reasonable steps to avoid publishing personal information such as customer names or addresses without appropriate permission.

25. Liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

Nothing excludes liability for matters such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

26. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Nothing prevents a consumer from relying on mandatory legal protections that apply to them.

27. Statutory Rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights.
